1. Horcrux   (ho-(r)-crux)

noun - A Horcrux is the name given to an object in which a person has concealed a part of their soul so as to become near immortal. That person will not die even if someone tries to kill him. Because his Horcrux will prevent his death by ensuring that even though his main body and soul are damaged, a little part of his soul remains alive and unharmed. Creation of a Horcrux requires the ultimate act of evil, of murder.

ORIGIN: From the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling in which a character is believed to have divided his soul into seven parts.

'He made seven Horcruxes?' said Harry, horror-struck. 'But they could be anywhere in the world - hidden - buried or invisible-'
