1. Lincoln   (Ling-con)

Lincoln is a luxury brand owned by Ford Motor Company. Similar to Oldsmobile and Cadillac, Lincoln was origenally it's own company. On the verge of bankruptcy, the company was aquired by Ford. Lincoln competes with Chrysler and Cadillac, and is currently in 2nd in sales and ratings behind Cadillac. Lincoln seems to be using a similar turnaround to Cadillac. Lincoln's history is also suprisingly similar, in that it's true golden years were in the 1950s and 1970s. Lincoln, like Cadillac, was basically rotting between the early-1980s and the 1990s. Lincoln is already deep into it's resurrection, with such outstanding models like the MKZ (Mark Z, Zephyr) mid-size sedan, 2007 Navigator/Navigator L, MKS (2008) and MKX. Lincoln invented the luxury pickup with the Blackwood concept, but it all went down hill from there. Blackwood was made. But, with changes. Very bad changes. And the car was canceled after just two years of production. Replaced by a cheap Ford F-150 King Ranch rebadge, the Mark LT. Lincoln is most remember for the Mark Series (1970s mainly), Navigator luxury SUV, Town Car full-size sedan and Continental mid-size sedan.

Lincoln was the first company to make a luxury pickup truck (Blackwood) and first company to make a full-size luxury SUV (Navigator).
