1. Pala   (Pah-Lah)

Pala is a doomed little place from the novel Island by Aldous Huxley.  The Palanese are pacifists in nature, with a muttish mixture of religions that drive their spiritual beliefs.  Pala is what would be considered a modern-day utopia.  Unfortunately, that palanese pacifism is their ruin, and Pala is seized by a neighboring territory without a fight.

In the book Island, Pala allows one to imagine an idealistic society.  The only problem is, man will always have his follies, and these, sadly, will always over-rule.
