It sounds like maybe a form of depression that many teens seem to go through. If you are ever having suicide thoughts you should call a hotline or something. If you want to talk to a counsler without you parents knowing you can always go and talk to your school counsler and she wont' notify your parents unless she feels you are in serious danger.

yes, as others have said, it could be mood swings. but i dont think, even in us teenagers with hormones racing, we dont have thoughts like that unless something is maybe wrong.

Go to a doctor or to a councillor and talk about it. it can be done in complete confidence and your parents dont need to find out at all.

good luck.

It's normal for a teenager to experiance mood swings. And yes there is a way of getting help from a shrink w/o your parents knowing. All you do is,go to the shrink's office and sign in for an appointment.
Then he will call you back. And schedule an appointment that works for you.Maybe there is a way to fight your moodswings.Just stay away from sharp objects,or anything that could hurt you.But it is really best if your parents know about these things. They don't want you to hurt or kill yourself. So tell them. They will understand better than you think. And maybe they can even help you with your moodswings.Because they've went through exactly what you've been through.Trust them.

A lot of teenagers get mood swings, it's really nothing to worry about. Sometimes you're happy, sometimes you're sad... just try to focus on the good things, the being happy more.

Having thoughts of suicide and harming yourself is not a good thing, and yes, can be a sign of depression. Talking to someone is a good idea, could you go to a school counselor perhaps? You can talk to a school counselor without your parents needing to know (as far as I know) and it helps getting it out and talking to someone. Or, you could visit your doctor and talk with them about it.

Telling your parents can be a good idea, it's good to have their support. But, without knowing your situation just do what you feels best for youself.

If your school doesn't have counselors, then talk to a trusted adult about things, about how you're feeling. If you're ever in a situation where you're having suicidal thoughts and have no one to talk to, you can always call a hotline:

National Suicide Hotline 1-800-SUICIDE
Youth Crisis Hotline 1-800-448-4663

Teenagers often experience mood swings. It comes from the changing levels of hormones in the body, as it is making the transition from child to adult. Mood swings are to be expected, but they can also lead to depression. What you are describing sounds like a severe mood swing, but I'm no doctor so I could be entirely wrong.

You may not be able to see a psychiatrist without your parents, but you most certainly can go to the doctors alone. They will be able to advise you further than I can.

Good luck!
