What are LiveWire Groups?
LiveWire, while its central theme is a community forum, recognizes that there is a demand for a type of "open" environment. These environments are called LiveWire Groups, and they are accessed via the tool bar (far left/right of your screen). Alternatively, you can simply click here to be taken directly to groups you're a member of, and a searchable list of all of LiveWire's public groups.
How do I create a group?
To create a LiveWire group, please follow these steps:
- Click on the "Groups" link located on your sidebar (far left/right of your screen).
- Next, look near the top right hand side, you'll notice a "Create Group" link.
- Once clicked, you'll have to decide your group name, group description, and whether or not you want your group public or private.
- To quickly access the page, simply click here.
What are group managers?
A group manager is a member who has been selected by the group's owner to oversee and help in the running of the group. They will have the ability to mass message the group members, invite new members, edit or delete shared documents, delete shared images, links, remove followed topics, and remove members from the group.
What is the difference between a support group and a social group?
A support group is any group that is mainly focused on peer support (such as rape victims), while a social group is any group that is centered around general discussion (such as cars). We've separated them in the group listings to ensure that members who are seeking support will be able to quickly recognize which groups aim to achieve that goal. If you wish to have your group added to the support group list, simply message a moderator.
Can my group expire?
Yes, your group can expire. Once your group has remained inactive for a period of 90 days (no new bulletin posts, topics, links, documents, or images), it will automatically be deleted.
How do I resign membership from a group?
If you wish to leave a group you are a member of, go to the group itself and look along the Navigation Bar on the right side. There will be a link that reads 'Resign Membership', and once clicked you will be met with a prompt that asks for you to confirm your decision.
