How do I have an account pardoned?
It is possible to have a previously banned account returned to you via a pardon process. LiveWire moderators do this to reward consistently good behavior, and because we believe it is possible for someone to permanently change their bad behavior. However, let it be known that the standards tend to be fairly high, and a lot of factors are applied to the decision process. It should be noted that individuals who pose a real and legitimate threat to our members (such as those who display sexually predatory behavior) are in no way entitled to, or covered by, this pardon policy.
What are the requirements that must be achieved before I'm eligible for a pardon?
1) The first, and most important, is that you must have a minimum of four months with 'good behavior'. If you submit your pardon request a single day too early, it will be denied, and you will be asked to resubmit it the next day - there is no room for compromise.
2) 'Good behavior' is ultimately left up to the discretion of the moderation team. However, when a pardon request is submitted, moderators must be able to articulate why they support denying the pardon request. They cannot simply vote to deny a pardon request without some type of justification for doing so. Previously, formal warnings have been used to deny pardon requests, and serious misconduct informals have been brought up in the discussion on whether or not to pardon an account, as well.
3) When you submit your pardon, there are specifically two things you should include in your request. We want to know why we should agree with you that the account should be pardoned, and we want you to tell us what you plan to do with your account if we decide to pardon the account for you. If you fail to include these two subjects, we will absolutely deny your request.
4) There are, as well, smaller impacting factors that will be taken into consideration. For example, obtaining support leader status/accruing a large amount of days active has been used as a way to prove change has been accomplished in previous pardon discussions. All of these smaller factors cannot possibly be thoroughly and completely discussed, but be aware even the smallest of things can help (or harm) your case.
Summarization:
- Please wait a minimum of four months before requesting a pardon for a banned account.
- Have a reasonably clean and clear history for those four mandatory months.
- Tell us why we should pardon the account, and what you plan to do with your account if we do agree to pardon it.
- When you feel you are eligible, file a Moderator Error Report to initiate the discussion between moderators. The clearer and better your argument, the more reason we have to believe that you've changed for the better, thus the higher your chances will be for regaining access to your account.
