I have to go to the doctor for my first Pap test soon. I know that they take cells from your cervix and vagina. Does this mean that if you still have your hymen, it will have to be broken or is the hole in the hymen big enough for the applicator to fit through? I'm still a virgin and I still have my hymen, so I was just wondering. Thanks for your help.

If you are still a virgin let your doctor know and I'm sure they will do everything they can to be considerate of this and make you comfortable. If you have never had sexual intercourse before it is likely to be a little sore because the instrument they use to reach your cervix is of a considerable size. However, just because you haven't had sexual intercourse before doesn't necessarily mean your hymen will still be intact. Sports, inury, sexual activity(not necessarily intercourse) and veen tampon use can break the hymen long before you lose your virginity. But at the end of the day, a little pain is far better than the alternative whereby you might miss a diagnosis in it's early stages. I wouldn't stress too much it probably won't be as bad as you think.
