Art is a direct expresion of the artist. you can probably only think of depressing imagery because right now in your life, your feeling down. Which you already said is true. There's nothing wrong with depressing imagery, hell i love an imagery from any artist as long as it's expressive of them. My style has been called, grungy and depressing at times, it's also been called whimsical. Thats because when i do art, how I'm feeling directly affects what I'm going to do subconsciously. I would draw what you think of. It could be a good way to get some pent up feelings out of your system. And the more you draw the better you become.

maybe you should draw what you are feeling, it could be (perhaps) a "best" work without you even knowing. Art and poetry, words and pictures.. they are a form of feelings of emotions.... let it out!
