What are the general laws of transporting alcohol in a car?

its in the Trunk,

Does it have to be sealed, what if its been opened?

Both for Minors and Legal persons.

Thanx.

You're not supposed to have it in your car if you're a minor.

You're not supposed to have it open in your car at any age.

Sealed.
If it's open, they'll charge you with it.

If it's sealed and in the trunk, they can't do anything because it's out of reach and shows no signs of being open.

It cannot be in arms reach of the driver. It has to be sealed. If it is not, it has to be in the trunk. If you are the driver and are under age, you can't have it at all.

If it is open and you are under 21, against the law.... but I think if it is in the trunk, no matter what it should be legal, it isnt anywhere where you can get to it while driving...

I think it might depend on where you live.  Here, it's not permitted to be anywhere in the car if you are a minor.

Obviously, an opened container of alcohol in the car (doesn't matter who has been drinking) is a no no. The best bet would be to keep it in the trunk, and unless law enforcement has probable cause, don't let them search your vehicle (this is good advice regardless of the situation).

DUI for what? If you aren't under the influence, you can't be charged for DUI. Moron.

One has to be under the influence to be charged with a DUI.  And it is a fine, court-date, and/or license revocation/suspension for transporting.

Not 100% sure but pretty close to it that atleast in CT you can have closed alcohol in your car if you are a minor as long as someone of legal age is present in the car. This law probably changes from state to state though.

in texas the law states that if your a minor you can carry unopened containers of alcohol in a stowed away place not readily accessible by the driver. In other words behind the backseat of a four door vehicle or in a toolbox. however if the cop has a reasonable intent to suspect alcohol, he can search any unlocked areas of the car. So your best bet is to carry it in your toolbox, with the hatch locked. Also any open container in the cab is illegal at any age. open containers in the bed do not count however
