I ordered a wireless router off Amazon (NETGEAR WGR614), and as tech savvy as I am, I'm still having problems with it.

I previously had no network of any kind in my house.  I hooked up the router to the power supply, and connected it to the Ethernet port on my desktop computer.  Now, I should be able to log in to the router at http://192.168.1.1 from my web browser, but any connection I try to make to it is giving me a "This page could not be found" error, or similar.

If I was buying it straight from NETGEAR, I would have received an installation CD with it, but I've been assured that this is not required for installation of the router.  I've been told that I need to set it up properly (which I definitely have) and connect to it using the IP address shown above.

Grr... makes me annoyed with Amazon this does.  Any ideas on a remedy?  Oh yeah, there will be some kind of point value associated with the user who gives me advice / a solution which leads to the remedy of this.

reset the router, and then use http://192.168.0.1,

then to get in the user name is going to be admin
and the password will either be 'psswrd' or just leave it blank and hit enter

i had a similar problem with my first  netgear router but it was fine after reseting it, I prefer linksys or D-link now-a-days

pretty easy
look at the bak of the router, and there should be a lil hole close to where u plug in the power that says reset, push a paperclip into it and hold it for 5 to 7 seconds, router needs to be powered on u'll see all lights on router flash let go of paper clip.
i'll see if i find u the owners manual for that router

Hmm, in windows under network connections, and see if your default NIC is on, and connected.

Also, reset your router if it is the NIC was connected, and try http://192.168.0.1/ again.
