I'm fantasizing about my mother's death and how my life would be better without her. I'm scared because if really does happen I would feel guilty because I wanted it to happen. But what's going on right now the reason my mom's all depressed has got nothing to do with me. And when I see her just staring into space and trying to stop herself from crying especially when I'm around, and there's nothing I could do to help her. Maybe I can talk to her and make her laugh for a while or take her to the mall. But once she's home and it's quiet again she'll remember. I just feel trapped. But no matter how much I want to get out of here and live my own life, I can't leave her.

Maybe it would be better to get to the root of the problem (i.e. why she is depressed in the first place). Do you know why? Maybe she should see a doctor or therapist. They will probably be able to help. Maybe just talking things through with her will give her a chance to work through her feelings.

We do talk but there's nothing I can do to help make the problem go away.

She spent almost a year in our home country taking care of her mother. She even left her job. Then over the summer her sisters came for a vacation...in the end they accused her of showing off & for being a know-it-all. She feels that all her hard work & sacrifice wasn't appreciated. Not only that but it's like she did something wrong by being there for her mother when no one else would.

That is a good idea but I don't really think we have the money for it. And I don't think my mom would like to talk to strangers about something like that.
