The Burj Dubai, under construction in the UAE (United Arab Emirates), is estimated to be completed in 2008 with an overall height of 2,650 feet.

There also exists a proposal to build a 'Murjan Tower' in the tiny state of Bahrain, at over 3,300 feet tall sometime  before 2020.

Also, there is a proposal to build a Tower in Kuwait at slightly under 3300 feet, about the same height as a proposed solar tower in New South Wales, Australia.

So, when do you believe we will break the one mile mark?

It's easily possible that they'll break 3000 feet before 2020, so I do not see why not.

Other estimates put the completed height of the Burj Dubai at nearly 3100 feet.

On a more serious note, it looks like we will, due to the number of proposals that reach justttttt over a kilometer.

at some point engineering with hit a serious problem in spreading the weight as well as dealing with wind conditions at such heights. I suspect this will happen well before the mile mark.

Well, it looks like it will happen with these planned structures, eh?

Even the Burj Dubai.

I predict that carbon nanofibers will eventually be integrated, however.
