I just downloaded and installed SpeedFan on my computer. It is a program that senses fan speeds and internal temperature. It's reading my temp at 122 farenheit, 50 celcius. Good? Bad? I dunno. You tell me.

Most processors are set to automatically shut down when they reach a dangerous temperature, and that's usually around 180 Fahrenheit.

Mine can actually be set to go all the way to 196 before shutting down, so yeah, 122 is perfectly fine.

With the automatic fan speed control, it's down to 118. I like it already

I'm not really sure how to use it, though. A lot of the pages are blank and I dunno what to set things on...

Yeah It's confusing me too.

Also, my processor is only about a month or 2 old, so thats probably why its running cooler. They tend to run hotter as they get old.

I started reading how to configure it in the help section, but it's not helping at all since most of the pages are empty...

I wouldn't even worry about trying to keep a monitor on the desktop. Keep the dust out of the case and the cooling systems will work properly; in the event that it does overheat it will shut itself off to prevent damage. But you'd have to be doing some seriously heavy stuff for a long time to cause that (or clog your air vents).
