i met this guy a little bit ago and we have really hit it off, but he's not the most attractive guy in the world. i don't care what my friends think or anything, and i'm not being shallow... i still really like him.

but i don't like going out in public with him because of ME. if i didn't feel gross and whatnot, i wouldn't care, but i feel like we just look like a bad couple? i don't know. i don't know how to say what i'm feeling.

i guess i am worried about what people think.

i don't know what to do. when it's just us i feel amazing when i'm around him, but when other people are around, i don't.

what should i do?

I bet there are quite a few strange couples out there that you don't know of, and in my mind I would rather they were happy being a couple, than happy looking like a good one.

This sort of idea makes me want to rethink the idea that I would rather link arms then hold hands with my GF in public. But I guess I can do both.

Is it worth it being with him, and potentially being uncomfortable in a crowd situation while you are together with him?

Really, in my personal opinion, this will get better with time. I know how you feel, because I felt the exact same way about one of my girlfriends, I LOVED the alone time with her, but the social aspects like taking her out to the movies, parties, and whatnot was just plain awkward.

In time however, one gets used to their partner and they're able to build a relationship that is not based on the outside perseptions of others, and eventually what other people think about how you two look together fails to be of consequence anymore.

In all reality, most people simply don't care. Unless you're around friends, no random person is going to think "oh god, weird couple!" and if they do it hardly matters, because you don't even know the people.

If you're with your friends ask them what they think of you and your boyfriend being together, because it seems you are actually unsure of what people think of you two, it could provide better input, and help you along.

Ultimately it is your choice on whether or not you should end it with him soley based on public apperances.
Best of luck.

"Who are you?" Sophie asked.
She received no response to this either, but felt a momentary
confusion as to whether it was she or her reflection who asked
the question.
