how do i reformat or reinstall? i cant find that cd it my computer came with
Most new computers come with all the files on a hidden partition on your hard drive, though you need the disk to activate them. Any install disc will work.
You can also download an OEM version of Windows. It is uncuszomized for any computer, so the install is universal.

im not about to throw this away. it has too much info on it
It was a joke.
However if you can't even boot into safe mode, there is a chance you will loose your data.

Reformatting will erase all of the data on your hard drive too. Put your hard drive in a different computer and copy the files off of it. Can you post the details of the message that you get?

Not if you connect the hard drive to another computer. As a last resort, you could by some ribbon cable and connect the hard drive to your brothers computer to recover your data, and get the hardware fixed.

Forgive me if I'm dead wrong.
But if she puts her HD into another PC, then if its a virus, wouldn't the other PC have a risk of being subjected to the virus? And then wouldn't she just install the virus back on when she put her files on her PC?

Possible. Make sure your software is up to date. That should be enough to protect you. Though I'd guess a worm over a virus.

a problem has been detected on your computer and windows has been shut down to prevent damage you your computer
if this is the 1st time youve seen this stop error screen restart you computer. if this screen apperas again follow these steps:disable or uninstall any anti-virus,disk defragmentation or backup utilities.
check your hardrive configuration and check for any updated drivers. run CHKDSK to check for hardrive corruption and then resart your computer

Welcome to the world of Microsuck.
If I had to guess, I'd say you have a corrupted system file, making recovery without reinstallation impossible. If safe mode doesn't work, there isn't much you can do besides recover what you can, and reinstall Windows.

yeah but this never happened!
If you downloaded it from the Sims official website, I doubt that was the cause.

Who does that? If I remember back to my Sims days when I was like 11, Simslice is where its at. And thats a rather shady site.
I suggest the first thing you do when you get your system running is to uninstall all that crap.
