Some guy was fucking around in the sand and he realized that when he fell it made a shape similar to that of a person. He was so impressed he went to tell his fellow tribe about his exploit, they came and looked and were like "wtf this is stupid" and he said "You can't judge this it's art" and that's why it exists today.

Hmmm... I think art exists to demonstrate ones ability to communicate, be creative and show off worksmanship. It really doesn't have a true purpose, and I guess it doesn't really help us advance us into a technologically-based future, but hey, it looks pretty damn cool.
