i want to overclock my athlon 64 2800+ (newcastle) with an Asus k8v-mx mobo. but the cpu configuration options in the bios are grayed out and i can't seem to change anything. what shud i do?TT

I think http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php may be what you are looking for.

I may suggest If you cause damage to your processor get an Opteron 265 to overclock.  Somebody I know got the 1.8ghz up to 2.9ghz on stock cooling.

Update your BIOS. Then try it, if you still can't, then, well, idk, lol. Maybe get a new PC?

Seriously, I have no idea what could be causing the Jumper-Free settings to be disabled, other than corrupt/outdated BIOS, or non-compatible hardware. Which the 2800 is compatible with your mobo.
