U of Tampa is probably big enough that there are indeed people like you around, you just haven't found them yet.  I'm in a similar situation, but it's sort of me vs. another stereotypical group of people, so to speak.

It's not that you're not good enough to be someone's friend, it's just that you haven't found those you want to be friends with.  That will come.  

Have you tried joining some clubs?  Or getting involved in any kinds of organisations or study groups?  All of those help.  Also, I moved into a suite midway through last semester, and found it was so much nicer than living in a dorm hall; I felt like i was living with a family.
