 Yea, but if the person thinks you didn't help them best you could, wouldn't you want to know what you could have done better? It's not all about "omg, I didn't get the most points!" but normally more about "why didn't this person think I was the best? How can I improve?" 
I think it is always better to PM and talk than give an answer in the e-help. Even the person will feel better. I mean don't care so much about the rating, just help the person and show your will to help.
