I was just wonderring the other day, does gravity exists without matter? For instance, if we obliterate all land and all other substance within earth completely except for gravity, whats going to happen with this force? Would it still exist or would it just suddenly vanish? After a while, this question lead me to the theory of formation of blackholes, since the purpose of gravitation is just suction built on the foundation of land and since my perceptions of blackholes is suction without land, I believed this is how blackholes are formed. I never taken any science courses, so I wouldn't know, but if any of you do take science courses, is my assumption correct?

If gravity exists as the attraction between matter (i.e. massive objects have lots of gravity) and there's no matter, then there won't be any gravity.

Gravity is a force, it would still exist unless you suddenly get rid of the earth's core.

yeah, i just dropped my pen and since it fell straight down instead of floating away i'm gonna say that gravity exists.

No. Gravity would not exist, because you need mass in order for something to pull towards another. Say i had an apple, and a pea. The pea would have less gravational pull then the apple, because of less mass. No mass=no gravity.

Well, thats what i think anyways.

If you destroyed all the matter on earth, there would no longer be any mass to create gravity, therefore there would be no gravity.

Blackholes are formed from very large suns dieing and imploding on themselves.  They're called blackholes because their core has so much gravity it sucks in light.  Gravity wouldn't really exist if there was no matter, where would it take you to?  Maybe make you go around in circles or something?  Well, anyways, this is coming from a 15 year old that hasn't attempted the intellectual test yet.  :p

Read Scott Adam's thought experiment "God's Debris". It has an interesting view on things such as gravity.

No, gravity does not exist in what I understand.
Just an urban myth.

There will still be gravity. Gravity from Mars, the Sun(the one that basicily keeps us in orbit), and many other things.

Also there are smaller gravity , but we don't feel it because its far far away in the center of our galaxy.

Gravity is a mutual attraction between matter.  It increases with mass and decreases with distant.  But theoretically, even one atom of matter would permeate the entire universe with gravity because the inverse square law can be extrapolated out to infinity.
