It all depends on who how gravity is transmitted. If it moves through the universe via gravitons that have mass then obviously mass is needed. But if it's a massless wave (or something else that's massless) then no mass is needed. Just like you don't need wind for a yacht to exist.

Gravity is caused when a mass warps space-time around itself. No mass, no gravity, simply. Black holes have so much gravitaitonal force because they are very very dense at the core, and have huge mass.

Gravity is not a force exclusive to the Earth.  Should Earth be obliterated, there'd still be gravitational forces from other celestial bodies.  Albeit, almost infinitesimally small.

But gravity isn't caused by mass, it affects mass.

From Wikipedia:

Isaac Newton's theory of universal gravitation states the following:

Every single point mass attracts every other point mass by a force heading along the line combining the two.

F = GMm/r^2

Quod erat demonstrandum.

black holes have matter, A LOT OF MATTER. They take a start three times the size of the sun, and squeeze it down till it's only a mile accross. If the earth was vaporized (all the matter dissapeared) then there would be no gravity.

Gravity is a universal force. It exists even when you remove the things it acts upon.

Do cars disappear if you remove roads? Do trains disappear if you remove tracks? NO!

Conservation of matter means matter is conserved, its impossible to get rid of matter. Mass is the amount of matter something has. Black holes suck because they have a huge mass meaning alot of matter just alot of matter really compact. Gravity is based souly on mass but mass can't be destroyed.

Gravity is a force that acts on mass. You can have gravity without mass like you can have water without fish. And it's the conservation of energy, not mass.

Wha..? I was under the impression relativity predicted that  gravity was a result of mass warping spacetime...?

Science in my opinion is simply finding something you have no idea about or how it works, how it got there, or what it's for.. and thinking up a word to give it some sort of meaning other than its existence..

"Gravity" is the word that has been given to the force that attracts objects to that of a much greater mass, and thus why we are stuck to the ground. So since we invented it, it exist..

It is, and the ability to warp it is mediated by a force. Some people believe the force is caused by gravitons.
