So now, my grandfather is applying for "First Nations" status for him, my Mom, and my aunt and uncle.

My Mom asked about me too, but my grandfather said he doesn't know. He's going to look into all of this stuff more, I guess.

When she got off the phone I had to persuade her to tell me, for some reason she didn't want to. I wouldn't anyway, especially because nobody really gives a fuck, but whatever, her whole family is a bunch of weirdo fucknuts anyway. (and I loathe them.)

Though for some reason, now my Mother is bitching at me, ordering me not to tell anyone, because she thinks people are going to suddenly stereotype me and make all kinds of assumptions and treat me like shit because of it. Or, more importantly, "us". Fucking cunt bitch... probably my grandfather told her that. Though the reason she didn't want to tell me was because my grandfather made her swear not to tell "anyone", and I guess "anyone" automatically means me, too.

That's why I hate her family. They're all wacko and weird about "secret keeping".

Honestly, it was a pretty huge fucking surprise at first, but seriously it means absolutely nothing to me. Whoever this person was, I have MAYBE one sixteenth of their DNA, probably not even a fraction of that.

All of these people with only the tiniest slivers of native ancestry calling themselves "First Nations" utterly annoy me. It's ridiculous, it's taking advantage of something they're not really entitled to, and it's abusing the system.

It's almost laughable. My grandfather is a big maybe, but I highly doubt my mother or aunt or uncle qualify, and there's absolutely no way I would.

Not that it matters anyway, because I am absolutely and totally not interested. I am a white Euro girl through and through. I am absolutely not and never could be First Nations. It's an interesting bit of information, and therefore nice to be aware of, but I'm not making anything more of it. End of story.
