Thank God, thank GOD in Heaven Above for directors like Martin Scorsese. They keep Hollywood alive with masterpieces like this. I adored this film, and not just for the classic film references. I loved the smell of adventure. Melies' reluctance to remember his genius was heartbreaking and beautifully so. Also, this film reminded me that I still need to watch JUDEX, another Édouard Mathé film that I've been planning to see for a while. Loved the clip of Harold Lloyd in SAFETY LAST. See? This is the type of movie that Hollywood needs to sustain itself, not that...thing. Thank God for the Great Directors and God Bless You, Martin. Absolutely loved this film.
