Thank God, thank GOD in Heaven Above for directors like Martin Scorsese.  They keep Hollywood alive with masterpieces like this.  I adored this film, and not just for the classic film references.  I loved the smell of adventure.  Melies' reluctance to remember his genius was heartbreaking and beautifully so.  Also, this film reminded me that I still need to watch JUDEX, another Édouard Mathé film that I've been planning to see for a while.  Loved the clip of Harold Lloyd in SAFETY LAST.

See?  This is the type of movie that Hollywood needs to sustain itself, not that...thing.  Thank God for the Great Directors and God Bless You, Martin.  Absolutely loved this film.

The movie was emotional for me. The attempts of the boy to enliven a fallen star, his will to never give up discovery. The recognition he gets at the end.. even though the movie was slated to be in 3d and I had watched it in 2d, the experience was equally fulfilling.
