i keep my weed in an airtight glass jar (for the scent obviously) and i heard that if it sits to long mold can grow on it if the buds are a little damp. what are the chances of it happening and how can i prevent it?
i don't just want to take the lid off the jar because it will dank up my whole house.

It takes awhile for it to mold. Don't worry about it.

Just did a quick google search on it for you. tldr; moldy weed happens occasionally, especially if you're buying stuff that hasn't sufficiently dried. It's true that mold can grow with very little oxygen. If you're really worried about it, bake it at 300 degrees for a few minutes, but it shouldn't be a big deal if you've got a healthy immune system. I've kept weed in a jar for a couple of months and never had a problem.
Also, I should have said that basically everyone I know keeps their weed in an airtight jar (including myself). You really don't need to worry about it, i don't think.

if its in an airtight jar you should be fine, just make sure it smells ok!!
