Would everything just become less and less dense until eventually all that we know fades and splits into smaller and smaller molecules? It might sound like a dumb question, but I haven't taken too much science.
On the topic of science, this interview is great and starts to explain things like our connection to the stars and how they live within us. You can probably find the meaning of life somewhere in this interview, and it's hilarious as well. I like Colbert better as an interviewer out of character because he doesn't have to worry about offending a guest or voicing his real opinions.
Seriously, watching this makes me wish I had gotten into science. I'd almost say it's similar to law, in that you have to know it inside out to the point where you can always explain it and be ready to prove to a skeptic why they're wrong. Not through a list of talking points, but actually having such a thorough understanding of things to the point as if you were there discovering them yourself.

Well I would think that basically what you said is probably pretty correct. Saying the universe is EXPANDING is everything to do with density and nothing to do with creating or destroying matter so as to make more or less of it. Edit: I could be totally wrong, I don't actually KNOW, thats just what I'd think based on the wording of your question

Dude, its amazing. At first I was like this is cool I'm learning something seeing Colbert, and then it just gets more and more fascinating. People become disengaged because they don't know how to connect many scientific discoveries with so called practical knowledge, and he lays out the bridge between the gap perfectly.

You can create matter out of nothing, but at the same time an equal amount of anti matter is created, they are attracted to one another and if they crash into each other they cancel each other out.
I saw a documentary on this once where scientists actually created matter over and over again in vacuum tubes, it was interesting stuff.
Check out this antimatter reactor that exploits this

That's pretty awesome, I can imagine scientists doing something like that and becoming the first successful alchemists. But I bet if we ever got to that point of creating things out of nothing, it'd immediately be hushed down or made illegal in the name of big business.

It's crazy isn't it? I'm envious of how great a speaker and on the spot thinker he is. He should definitely be given his own show.
