I got my tongue pierced this past Friday. It swelled a great bit but now the swelling has gone down and the longer bar is causing problems. My mouth is too small to accommodate it and it's damaging my gums even when I just try and swallow. So how long should I have to wait in order to change to a shorter bar?

The shop I had it done at is 5 hours from where I live. Do you think if I went to just a shop close to here they would look at it and/or change it for me?
