I'm in a brand new city for 4 weeks on a work experience placement, there are no other interns, I have a rent-free flat which is totally badass and would be cool to have a gathering in. But I know nobody here.

People at work are generally adults, it's the summer holidays so there aren't really large crowds of students about and I don't know if I'm confident to go to the pub/bar/club by myself and just go up to random people to meet them.

Anybody got any tips for meeting some new people who I can hang with while I'm here?

tbh work is the first thing i would have suggested, and second to that a pub. it's a chilled environment with plenty of different types of characters. but if you don't know if you're that confident idk what to suggest.

They're all like 40-50, I wanna go out and carry on my student lifestyle.
I'm considering speaking to the neighbours, there's only 1 more flat in this building and I think its a youngish couple with a kid.

Otherwise I have to wait for merryberrycherry to introduce me to her friends :p HINT.
