Forget the size of the universe. Just look at the size of our very own galaxy. It's... well, huge. So huge that there's no way we could ever get our minds wrapped around the concept of just how vast it is.

I don't think I believe all of these stories about people running into little green men in the woods, or getting abducted, or whatever... but I believe they do exist, out there, somewhere. I know they're real. They have to be.

There's no way we're alone. There's trillions of planets in this galaxy. Earth can't be the only one on which living things can exist...

And there must be at least SOME life that's sentient like us. (and if any of these stories about aliens visiting Earth and stuff are even remotely true, obviously they're a hell of a lot smarter than we are.)

They're out there. Somewhere. They must be.

I wonder if they know about us. If so, I wish they'd try to make themselves known to us. Or at least, to me.

I really, really and truly wish I could meet an alien. That would be the most amazing thing ever.

But, on that note, I don't know why science fiction works always have ridiculously human-like aliens, and humans having sexual relations with them. Unless they came from a planet exactly like Earth, which is very improbable, there's almost no way they'd resemble us physically. And it's also very unlikely that, whatever they look like, we would find them physically attractive, nor do I think they'd be attracted to us.

And it's doubtful we'd be biologically compatible and capable of having sex with each other anyway. Heh...

Still, it would be cool to know for sure...

It's unnatural    but there isn't really anything wrong about thinking about it, I give you props, you thought about it a lot more in depth than me. I believe in aliens... but thats not something I'm willing to discuss on here.

I used to live in the UFO capital of the world. but i moved. The whole town is aliens painted on windows everything is aliens. I used to be a none believer but now I am. After spending so much time in the mountains sometimes hundreds of miles away from society weeks at a time, I realize how small I(as well as every other person)am in this vast universe. Just staring up at the stars and having no artificial lights around really opens ones eyes, least for me it did. And, I had the honor of meeting someone present at the weather balloon crash in roswell. I was told that anyone who believes we are the only living creatures out there are ignorant and arrogant. Look at our technological advancements in the time period that we've advanced, how do you go from minimal technology to things people wouldn't imagine being possible. I believe after seeing things in the skies here that don't match to any known aircraft(did my research talked to friends who are in the airforce and can identify aircraft by the engine sound) nothing matches whats been seen. One of my friends was present and was flabergasted by the aerial movements made by one of the aircrafts. He said the propulsion needed to maneuver like that isn't even possible technology wise yet and that the gforces would scramble the human mind.

The aliens exist, they visit us quite regularly:

I don't think humans are anywhere near the technological breakthrough necessary to do what that alien craft did.

Science fiction works don't always have humanoid aliens.

There are I believe, 1.6 x 10^22 stars in the universe. Even if just one out of a trillion has sentient life...thats 10 billion sentient races and (assuming 90% wipe themselves out) 1 billion races far beyond our capability, then maybe 10 million super-galactic powerhouses. That's a really, really conservative estimate too because that'd mean only one sentient race for every 13 galaxies. A ridiculously low number considering the reality that our galaxy has something like 400 billion stars and a significant portion of them are suspected to have at least have planet, then a slight (maybe one in 100, maybe less, maybe more) have one in the habitable zone. Even if you throw in a bunch of other factors, that 1.6 x 10^22 number is just too big for there to be no other sentient life in this universe if abiogenesis/scientific origin of life from 'non life' is true.

Actually, I fucked up, its 7 x 10^23 stars. So that makes it even more impossible that there isn't sentient life out there.

You aren't thinking 4-dimensionally.  You're only considering what's out there right now.  What about in the past, in the future?  An alien race that's now extinct but may have existed 100,000 years ago could have had a significant impact on us today, if you're to believe the ancient alien theory where a group of aliens took what were essentially monkeys and altered their DNA into what is now modern day humans, teaching them language, fire, and all that good stuff.
