I know these days we have medicine and they're always fixed shortly after birth, but... exactly HOW do they fix them? How do you patch a hole in the roof of someone's mouth?

skin grafts and shit, remodelling with artificial cartilage/bone. that sort of stuff.
leaving it untreated can cause airway issues and trouble when consuming fluid/food.

I forget how they fix them but I do know that if you don't, it makes it harder for the baby to feed.
