Can someone please explain why table salt does not melt easily, please?

Salts are usually solid crystals with a relatively high melting point. However, there exist salts that are liquid at room temperature, so-called ionic liquids. Inorganic salts usually have a low hardness and a low compressibility, similar to edible salt. --------------------------- Thats what i found out :P

table salt doesn't melt because it does in fact have a high melting point also knowing that salt is a mineral. if you also notice that table salt melts ice to the point where it will burn you that also tells you some thing but i don't know much more than that sry...look it up if you have aol it has a good help center.
