If you're someone who wants kids... is at least part of the reason because you want your genes to live on after you die? You want a lineage, a legacy?

Be honest...

Well it's pretty much ingrained into animals and human beings to do as such.

But no, that's not my reasoning.

No, that has very little to do with why I want children.

Cops are wonderful assessment tools at a HazMat incident.
Send them in with a lit road flare.

If they don't pass out or blow up, it's safe.

I don't think that's it at all.

For me, I think the closest reason to a legacy would be that I don't want to to grow old alone. I want to be surrounded by family until the day I die. If I never have children then who will look after me when I'm old and fragile and supposing my husband dies first? That idea really frightens me. So in a way, I'd like to leave a legacy of kind and caring children who look after their parents lol.

I would say that's a minor part of the reason I want children, though still part of it none the less. I just absolutely adore children and have wanted my own my whole life.

I want to have my turn to raise a child, to be the mother instead of always playing with other people's children.

Well I'm looking forward to seeing what traits my kids inherit of mine and my husband's as I think that will be interesting, but it's nothing to do with wanting to permeate genes onto future generations and all about, "awww look, he's got your eyes" kind of fun

Not particularly. In fact, if I felt like a child was going to be very similar to me, I might even decline to have children.

This.

The last thing I'd want is a kid like myself. Good gosh.
And I'm a woman, so my family name won't be past down, and my family is massive so if I didn't have kids it'd thrive on it's own.
