I can understand why you'd be concerned, but smoking weed doesn't necessarily mean that he's an addict, or ever will be. There are lots of people that smoke weed recreationally without any ill effects, or medically to help with a number of different things, including depression.

Is there anything that he's posted that relates to a drug other than weed? Like cocaine or heroin or speed?

Weed is a really popular substance these days, close to tobacco or alcohol. What I'm saying is that you probably don't need to worry if it's just weed that he's smoking.

Maybe sit down with him and explain that you're worried about him, because of the history with your birth mother and cousins. Ask him if he has or ever would take a substance other than cannabis.

I only know hes my brother cause im told so

In that case, I'm just going to reiterate what I said earlier - try not to worry! I smoke weed every day and have done for years, it's not done me any harm. Like I said, I can understand why you'd be worried, but this isn't necessarily going to turn out badly.

If I were you though, I'd do with him like I've done with some of my younger cousins who openly post shit about weed on their wall - remind them of all the people who have facebook and can see that! Adults, parents, relatives, not to mention many potential employers creep Facebook nowadays AND police have laid charges based on photos and things written on Facebook.

Social media needs to be used responsibly. and maybe this could open into a conversation where you could let him know that you're worried about his drug use... just don't preach to him, because if he's like any other 19 year old guy he'll just get pissed and shut you out.

like others have said in this post, it is possible for people to recreationally smoke weed with very few ill effects... there are many, many people who feel that weed is less harmful than alcohol. I think this, and I don't even smoke weed anymore.
