So I'm in charge of fundraising and gathering donations for our region's Ride for Sight (Ride for Sight is a non-competitive bike ride that started in Colorado in order to raise money to fund research on behalf of OneSight charity. OneSight is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that focuses on giving the gift of sight through four programs areas: Global Eye care, Regional Eyecare, Community Eyecare, and Research & Education.).

So far I've contacted:

Ann's Flowers - Santa Monica
Ralphs
Los Angeles Bike and Park
Downtown LA Bicycles
Bike Attack
Panera Bread
M Street Kitchen
Chick-fil-A
That's It fruit bars
Nature Valley granola bars
Knots Berry Farm
Six Flags
Performance Bike
Powerbar
Cliff Bar- denied
Grease monkey wipes- denied
Mars- denied

Others I looked into but we don't meet the criteria are:
Walmart
Sport Chalet
Best Buy
Disneyland

So does anyone have experience on this type of thing or ideas?

If it's motorcyles you're talking about., ask the local dealerships.

We did some fundraising for our Composers' Orchestra back in college, so I have some experience, yeah. The real trick is what you're offering them in return - can you advertise in any way? Announce who the sponsors are? Etc.

From a business perspective, think not only bicycle companies, but also businesses that serve bicyclists - sports attire and equipment, insurance, etc.

Round Table Pizza restaurants are usually pretty good about donations if you have any around.

Small local business were always our best contributors when we do fundraisers for the Relay for Life Cancer walk.  They want their name out there, and are willing to donate to get in most of the time.

Cops are wonderful assessment tools at a HazMat incident.
Send them in with a lit road flare.

If they don't pass out or blow up, it's safe.

Are you being facetious, or do they often donate to local events?
