could be 3-5 days up to one month for the first time if its a really nasty offense

just change the color of the 'up for DOS' state to something else, and somehow make that be the equivalent of a suspension where you cant post or make topics anyway, same thing as being banned but you get your account back. circumvent it, THEN you get the actual ban for awhile.

that way a whole separate category does not have to be programmed. i dont know how the rest could be worked out but if its a suggestion for a suspension, just have it be put thru and discussed after the fact, or before if its a major member

i dont know if this makes sense

well, is it?

probably me.

no its not, a suspension is typically a step before a ban and after a warning on other forums. that way you dont lose your account if you realize you fucked up and behave. its a way of saying 'cool off for a week or two and dont come back' instead of acting like its a 'ban' but letting someone back in a week anyway...and often they get away with more shit. its just more internally consistent and honest in my opinion.

i just wonder if the methodology i mentioned could be used far more easily than creating a whole new 'class'...and how feasible it is to implement without davjs since it would use an already existing state (up for denial of service). maybe darker grey.
