I'd just like to ask those of you who are in college some questions about the atmosphere and how you dealt with the transition. Any insights are welcome! You don't have to answer all questions, feel free to pick and choose, etc.

-Do you commute or live on campus?
-If you don't live in a dorm, was it hard for you to fit in?
-What is the best thing about dorm life? The worst?
-Have you ever had a roommate who had completely different interests or values than you? How did you work through it?
-Are there people representing lots of different interests at your school, or are most people interested in just one thing like sports, Greek life, or partying?
-How hard was the adjustment for you going from your own home to a communal housing situation?
-Did living in a dorm change you in any way? Like did you become more extroverted or discover different ways of interacting with people?
-Are you introverted or extroverted? If you were a shy person, was it hard to make friends? Does your roommate have a similar personality?
-Do you ever get homesick? Do you have any siblings or pets that you miss? How do you deal with that?
-How often do you visit home?
-How do the students balance studying and partying?
-If you don't like partying, are there other people you can spend time with in other activities? Or will you be an outcast?
-Does your roommate respect your need for privacy or quiet studying time?  
-Do you ever need alone time? Where do you go for privacy?
-Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend who doesn't go to your school? How do you manage to see him/her?
-Are people at your school accepting of differences in beliefs or lifestyles?
-Overall, has the college social life been a positive or negative experience? Why or why not?

Sorry, that was just my advice. And I'm a Senior in High School. But my sisters both go to College and I have a lot of friends now in college. But just relax. Honestly.

-I live on campus
-Life in the dorms is great.  I absolutely love it!  The only bad thingabout it is my neighbor- he literally stinks up the hallway.1
-I curently don't have a roommate- I have a double to myself and next year I was thinking about getting a single.
-My school isn't known for diversty, but they are still those few.  About 40% of the students are in Greek life and many people are pretty outgoing.  I've met a lot of different types of people.
-At first, adjustment was a lil hard, but as I started to gain more friends and doing things, I really got used to being independent.  And I really love it!
-After coming home for break (gas is just to high to come home more often), it is very hard to get used to being under my parent's rule.
-In high school, I was very shy and didn't know very many people.  At college, I'm the one that usually knows everyone. Kinda wierd for me.
Haha! My neighbor is a very outgoing person and it kinda rubbed off on me, so now I'm not as shy.
-Yea, I get the occassional homesickness for my family and pets.  I just go over to my neighbors and talk to them about it.  Sometimes we'll be talking about families back home.  It feels good to talk about it.  We don't do this very much btw, because usually we're really busy with classes and stuff to even really worry about it.
-Let's see, I've been home twice sine I started college. But that's mainly because of gas prices.
-Well, hmmm... Let's just say #2 party school in the nation and we're still ranked high in studying as well.
-My dorm is substance free, so I'm surounded by people like me. :)
-If i need some alone time, I just close my door.  My friends respect the fact that people need time alone, but I also told them not to let me do that too often (I'm known to go into depression if I'm alone too often).
-Well, I think I'm in the process of getting a BF from another school. :D I've seen him a few times and I talk to him regularly on AIM. I'm also thinking of transferring to his school (it's just a soincidence, nothing more).
-Eh, so far they have been very accepting.  I've even had some friends ask me about my religion, which is Catholicism.
-Most definetly positive!

The only way you'l know these things, is to try it!  You have nothing to lose by trying it.
