I recently saw a a political cartoon in my local paper that made me wonder about the holidays.

Three kids were sitting outside of the principal's office waiting for their punishment. While waiting the kids were discussing why there were in this situation. This first child said,"I said the sh** word and my teacher heard me. The second child said, " thats nothing I said gd and this girl told on me". The first two children look at the third who had remaind quite up untill this point and ask what did you do. The third child looked up kinda confused and replied, " I said Christmas".

This post isn't just about Christmas its about all holidays and the fact that at the rate our country is going will the actuall holidays (such as Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza or whatever it is that you celebrate) be here for much longer or will we all just begin to celebrate a commercial holiday under a new name.

That sounds like a great cartoon. Any chance you'd be able to scan / take a picture of it and put it up here?

As for the holidays disappearing, I think they'll be around as long as there are people to celebrate them, but the spirit will be dulled a bit.

Just as long as they aren't "christian" holidays, they won't be going anywhere for a very long time.  Maybe once the "christian" holidays are gone they will start to attack the others.

I am not a christian and there is hardly anyone I know who is. But we have christmas holidays here. Most of us just give cards to each other and the school invites some dumb santa and thats it. There is hardly any 'christmas celebration'. I definitely think that people are forgetting their values and beliefs; christmas to me is all about the parties, sweets and no school. I guess it will be reduced to the level of a commercial holiday after a few years. Most of the countries don't get the essence of christmas.
