And she's absolutely adorable!!! She is half Pomeranian half Chahuahua. She turns 1 year old in march.
But my moms getting up my ass kinda.
So i live in a dog-friendly apartment complex with 3 roommates who also love dogs. We have another dog too, and they seem to get along okay.
But I got her on craigslist. The person I got her from said she needed to get rid of her because she was moving and has a busy schedule, and that it would be unrealistic for her to keep 3 dogs. She told me shes Spayed, and has a rabies shot. When I went to pick her up she could not find the papers for the shot because shes moving and doesnt know where they are. I payed her $200 for a rehoming fee, and ive been in contact with her via text. She seems reputable, and the dog, Mochi, is very happy and  seems healthy and well taken care of.
But my mom is all like "you need a receipt for that! You need to know all of her info! She could be sick! They could be lying!" which is valid..to an extent, but she honestly seems really well adjusted.
So I dont know, Pecker the poor girl who had to give her dog up for adoption or what? Would you?

a) if all she's had is a rabies shot, she's not fully vaccinated and you should return her (or at least keep her separate from the other dogs) until she's been cleared by a vet, and then get her vaccinated for everything else as soon as possible

b) you are responsible for the health of your pets, and you can't fulfill that responsibility without knowing their medical history, so you should get the records and pass them on to your vet whether you trust this woman or not (and it won't be more than a trivial inconvenience for her to get another copy)

c) trustworthy people don't partially vaccinate their pets and then sell them to strangers on the internet when they become inconvenient

also, you're better off communicating by email so you can produce a record of what she said if the dog turns out to be dying/pregnant/unspayed or whatever else

and "rehoming fee"?

shelters charge them so they can keep going, but she's just trying to make money (quite possibly on a dog she got for little or nothing)

you are being much too nice

Sounds sketchy to me.

Selling you a dog by calling the price a "rehoming fee". Can't find any of the animals paperwork or documents. Why sell only one of three dogs if she has such a busy schedule. Sounds like it could of been stolen honestly. Or it might likely be sick.
You should definitely ask what vet it had its stuff done at and then take the dog there for a visit to she if she lied about anything especially if she's still talking to you.

You definitely over paid though. Unless it's coming from a reputable shelter, rehoming a dog is generally free because the owners just want it to go to good people.

Take her to a vet to get checked out and get her shots updated.  If she's deemed healthy, problems solved.  It's really not that difficult.
