S/O is standing order. I recently sent my application for a passport renewal to the Irish embassy. It included my card details and I need to know if the the money they withdrew would come up as S/O?
Does anyone know?

Standing order is an instruction you've made for your bank to give someone money.
If they're taking money, it shouldn't show as standing order.

what do you think it would come up as on the bank statement?
I'm very worried because the amount withdrew is not what the fee for the passport is - but the passport status says it was posted on that day so it may be connected.

What would a normal debit thing look like, because all the other ones say ATM which is where I withdraw my money. And I can only see them as far back as the 01 May and I sent the passport application form a while before then.

If you gave card details i would expect it to show as DEB and possibly something in the reference that indicates its passport or IPS

It shouldn't. Standing orders are initiated by you, for example I can have a standing order set up to pay my rent to my landlord.
If you've given your card details on the phone or on an application form, I'd expect it to show up as POS (for point of sale) on your bank statement, that's what has happened for me.
and if it's not the correct amount then surely it wouldn't be that anyway?
