NHS cancer funding question...
Lol, charities moaning that the government's not funding something? Isn't that exactly what charity is there for? For Christ's sake, MacMillan Cancer Support gets a shedtonne of money, they could make up the difference if it's that important to pay these experts 6 figure salaries.

My point in posting that was that, unlike what some seem to believe, health care is NOT free and it IS financially driven.

Thats a fairly tautological point. Obviously the money has to come from somewhere nobody is stupid enough to deny that. Clearly referencing 'free' in this sense is pointing to whether the onus of payment is on the state or the individual. I agree though, it is not a good way of explaining that point.

But it IS a financially driven system... just because you think it's free, health care costs money. No one is doing it for free.

Tell that to 8086.

8086 already knows.

What's your problem? It's not paid on a case by case basis, the cost to you is not anything to do with the amount of care you receive, or for how long, it is free when you need it.

The fact it's paid for somehow is not at all relevant to my point, and I'll thank you not to use such crap as some sort of "argument", since clearly I don't think it's free, but free in the sense that you don't pay for the care you receive as an individual, and you don't pay when you need the care, and it is available even if you don't pay for itin the first place.

... the NHS is not killing old people because they're old, and is not necessarily offering a lower level of care than a financially driven system.
Choose your words more carefully, then.

The NHS is not a financially driven system. The system in the US is.

And? What's the point of linking to your own posts where you say that something is so? What am I supposed to do with that?

You don't understand what I'm saying, and you're trying as hard as you can to dig some hole in my argument, but here you are, you don't even have a spade.

ALL businesses, even those in medical care, are financially driven, dear. Hospitals, developer of medical equipment, drug manufacturers, doctors, nurses, you name it... if there was no financial gain, they wouldn't be doing it. You seem to think that since the government is taking your money and then allocating it to pay the medical sector that that removes any financial drive. Think about it... how many of those people involved in the above endeavors can afford to work for no pay? How many hospitals can operate with no income? How many pharmaceutical companies will do the research into new drugs without a financial incentive? Wake up.

Yeah, you don't understand the systems, or my point. I'm not saying people don't get paid. Unless you can come up with something better I'll not be wasting my time engaging you further.

Good. I wish you'd made that decision before you destroyed the topic.
