so recently ive been accepted to college in Seattle Washington, i live in NewYork. While im so excited to go out on my own because i cant stand it here but i just hope im making the right decision and not being influenced by a picture painted in my head.Does anyone have any advice of Dorming and what not?
I think it will depend more on the school. Where I go, dorm life was awesome freshman/sophomore years which made the freshly away from home thing that much easier. Hardly anyone closed their doors unless they were sleeping and no one ever locked anything because of the mutual trust and respect.
At some other places I've seen / heard about, they're more like hotels. Open doors meant the room had been robbed.
But yeah, make friends, otherwise you'll be living in a miserable solitary bomb shelter of sorts.
Go hang out in the common room, and get involved with floor activities, or dorm activities, it's a great way to meet people, and keep in mind, that almost everyone is going to be nervous about meeting new people/being in a new place.
