Okay, This guy named Matty is 18 years old, dropped out of high school & is in a band.
I told him, "Dude, I'm not saying to go to a university, but get your GED at least"
He has no job, & you can't get a decent job without at least a high school education.
He says I'm wrong & that his band will make it big... what a bitch.

Let him do what he wants, it's his life. If he wants to not be properly equipped for the real world, let him. He's not your friend or anything, I wouldn't worry about it.
