Im happy with my photoshop, if it ain't broke, dont fix it.

I agree. I have been using Photoshop for years and its always treated me well. Also CS3 is just the greatest thing I have ever bought.

GIMP isn't bad for what it is, I have used it before but for someone who is use to Photoshop it just doesn't compare. The plus to GIMP is its good for someone who really can't afford Photoshop or who really doesn't need the power it has [like the OP said at the beginning].

That doesn't mean anything. It's what you are willing to do in either of them (Gimp and Photoshop) and how you apply yourself to them.

Here go to my deviantART page. I bet you can't tell what was done in PS and what was done in Gimp. Go ahead. Try it.

I bought Photoshop cs4 (legally) and I love it. It seems much easier to use than all other clones (gimp included). If you don't have the money, though, I would recommend the GIMP or paint.net, or, the online, amazing, SumoPaint.

I once heard the voice of God.
It said "Vrrrrmmmmm." Unless it was just a lawn mower.
