I agree. I have been using Photoshop for years and its always treated me well. Also CS3 is just the greatest thing I have ever bought.

GIMP isn't bad for what it is, I have used it before but for someone who is use to Photoshop it just doesn't compare. The plus to GIMP is its good for someone who really can't afford Photoshop or who really doesn't need the power it has [like the OP said at the beginning].

photoshop is the industry standard along with illustrator, so it should be the best
