O great fellow intellectuals allow me to burden you with this hard question, but does anyone else truly feel that this forum is truly as strong as it could be? according to the forum's bylaws:

- Postings are made only by members who have passed the Intellectual Test
- Posts are subject to a minimum length requirement

THESE ARE THE ONLY 2 DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THIS FORUM AND ALL THE OTHERS

now I come to simply ask you the following question

Do you sense any actual differnece between this forum and all the other NON-test/presumably NON-intellectual forums?

Well in theory I'd hope that people are so intimidated by the forum that they'd only post topics if they're very confident that what they're saying is intelligent.

Sadly some people are just 'fick.

The only difference is that posts have lots of nonsense strewn about to be considered a "more verbose" post, just like I'm going to do here...

Blah, blah, etc., so on and so forth...

the only difference between this forum and others is that people here like to use unnecessarily complicated words just to show off how clever they are.

And some people provide links with ridiculously long writing that one must read in order to take part in the conversation.

The main difference I've noticed is also one of the reasons this forum's creation was demanded by so many. You'll notice that when someone posts a topic, there aren't five replies saying, "omg too long shorten plz."

That's the difference.

IT IS WORTH IT!

It's a good forum for posting stuff which is genuinely complex and challenging, so that you don't get crap answers like "I don't understand, but...yeah, well..." *awkward shuffle*

The downside is that it's like an online purgatory - soooo quiet...

I think the test for this forum was pretty bad to be honest. It doesn't really test your intelligence at all. There are questions in it that don't relate to the whole world either (I'm referring especially to the republican one). I Suppose you could google it, but that's cheating. I would reccomend a different test that will really filter people, because whilst there are people in here who perhaps shouldn't be, there are also people outside who should be, who have failed the test too many times (is there a cutoff?).

But that's completely unrelated to this topic I guess. Nevertheless, it's an interesting thought.

I can't really say that I completely agree to this intellectual forum at all either. I mean, the first time I entered, it was just filled with unnecessary words as described above and not the ideal place for one to talk about "intelligent" issues at all. Isn't this forum supposed to be free reign to those with problems and who don't talk elite or like we're reading an essay long text message? That was my impression.

Sure I support the fact that scabby 1 liners and "el337" talk won't exist in this forum, but come on, isn't this for teens young and old? If I have to come into this forum and simplify each exaggerated word, (frankly because we talk normally and non pompously with friendship groups) I'm not even going to bother posting between political views and pregnancies.

There should be an ettiquette, but not a standard on vocabulary, and definately not to the extent of wild thread topics such as the majority I've seen. I think it's clear why people say not many people post here. They're intimidated by their own views being underaverage and feel they don't belong.

And on a side note, another difference is that this one is the cause of much more whining and complaining.  Between the test itself and then people saying how the length requirement is just silly, we cause quite a rucus.

Bwahahahahaha, indubitably.  I love that word.

[color=indigo]Truthfully, I treat this forum as a kind of who's who list for the most annoying people I have no desire to ever talk to.

Plus, surely you don't think you are improving the forum by creating yet another topic to discuss the forum.
