Personally, I prefer pi as opposed to e. I like the classics. We learn pi first, and it is much easier to comprehend it's purpose, that is, having to do with circumference and such. e is much more unfriendly, especially when dealing with natural logarithms.

I prefer Pi. I use it more often, and I love the symbol.

I think e is the worst.  We're doing natural logs right now in algebra II and it's the only thing this year that I'm not picking up really fast.  Pi is much easier to understand because we learn about it at a younger age and become more familiar with it sooner.

Czech Healthcare System - Another NHS?
11 MAY 2006 - It is illusory to think that the whole of the "New Europe" is now running fiscally sound healthcare systems on a private basis. This is not even the case in Slovakia – even though Slovakia might be the closest to this ideal – and it is even less so in other Central European countries. With the elections coming up, the Czechs will soon have an opportunity to choose what type of health care system they want for themselves. The incumbent Social Democrats want to preserve the current system, in which health care is basically "for free" and categorically refuse to consider the reform proposals of the leading opposition party, the Civic Democrats such as individual accounts for citizens and the privatization of most hospitals.

e. I really do enjoy natural logarithms... so I'm guessing that's why. I like being able to use ln of e, and getting 1. I don't like geometry at all, and that's mostly when I used pi...

oh, the bad memories.

phi... it's like pi, but phi, totally

anyways:  pi rockorz by sockorz or something like that

I'm tired for some reason, so this shouldn't make sense.

anyways, pi is more historic, it goes back to the Greeks, and it is larger as a popular culture thing

3.14159265358979323846264338327930, and I do not know any e, so, bah ha, etc.

plus e isn't Greek, yeah.

Sehr interassant!

Pi, the symbol is cooler, I've never heard a song about e, and I like circles more than logarithms.

I like Pi, not because it is simpler, but because when I was taught it my maths teacher was really entusiastic about it, and taught us a very cute saying to rememver the first seven digits of Pi:  How I wish I could calculate Pi!

It works by the number of letters.  How = 3, I = 1, wish = 4 ...

cute, eh?  Of course now i will always remember the first six decimals of Pi, thanks to that teacher, so Pi is my favourite.

im going to say e because you can make the following joke:

'there is a big maths party, to which all the various mathematical concepts are invited. The divide sign is having drinks with his mates, pi is hitting on the drunk girl. Then theres e^x sitting in the corner by himself. Pi asks him, "why arent you getting into the party?", to which e^x responds, "well i tried to integrate, but nothing happened..."'

indeed... if that joke made you want to kill yourself then youre not alone, i had the same reaction when i heard it for the first time in my maths class and thought about how much of a geek i had to be to be doing maths.

All these efforts are futile because pi and e are actually related. Behold (if I can remember Euler's formula correctly):

e^i*pi+1=0. From here you can show e, i, and pi as formulas of each other.

I picked e because I absolutly hate circles.. plus I actually like ln (natural logs) and what not..

too bad there isn't an e day though .. that would rock

WAIT!  Why isn't the real best infinite number sequence on there?  Phi is t3h bomb!  Plus, I hate Pi because my friend knows like 140 digits of it and always repeats it.

Really people...cannot you not be more sophisticated.  Pi is simply a fun way to play with circles, but it comes up so often in 3D volumes and some funky calculus stuff.  'e' is all about logs and expodentials which have the same gradient as their value, which is pretty cool in iteself.

HOWEVER...there is no number more beautiful than Phi.  Phi is the golden ratio and is found in life itself from nature to art to music to maths to the human body, phi is there.

Phi = 1.61803399

anyway, not bad for a first post hey?  Haha, I really wonder why it had to be in this forum on such a topic.

I prefer pi because it just sounds better. I know it isn't very Intellectual but it sounds like pie and I just love pie! Also I think that pi is easier to remember and I have learnt it first so I have a curios relationship with the number also.
