Anime club is great. I started one at my high school last year. It was hard to get it set up. Our school doesn't like clubs. I mean, every year they try and get FCA and FBLA and just about any club shut down so they don't have to deal with them.
Sixty kids at the first meeting. We held it in a hallway because they wouldn't give us a classroom and the gym class was using the auxillary gym.
These were sixty kids who were always getting made fun of and harassed. I mean, I put myself between half of them and fists a dozen times that year. I made someone mad enough to try and hit me with a car. Everyone made it out as a joke but based on who that kid was... I'm really not sure I believe that.
But, for a year, those sixty kids had a place to get together and just hang out. And I guess it'll last for a good while too. I know the kids who are running it next year and at one of our graduation ceremonies our club coordinator for the school took my hand, looked me in the eyes and said he was proud of what I had done and that the club would last for a good while.
So, huge advocate of anime clubs.
