The Real Threat to Europe's Jews

European Jewry is slowly but surely disappearing before our eyes, melting away through a combination of ignorance, assimilation and intermarriage.

The Jews of Europe are once again in grave danger, but the real threat to their future is not quite what you might think.
While the wave of anti-Semitism sweeping the continent is indeed disturbing, there is a far more destructive force at work these days, one that places the continued existence of European Jewry in doubt.
It is the ailment of assimilation and the malady of intermarriage which are truly wreaking havoc in Jewish communities across Europe. And though they may not receive as much attention as an assault on a rabbi in the streets of Paris or the desecration of a cemetery outside Berlin, the blows which they strike are nevertheless more lasting and more painful, as well as more difficult to repair.

Sounds kind of like something you'd find on national vanguard about how the whites are being diminished...

What sort of place would you expect to find such xenophobic kind of talk? One of the Orthodox Jewish extremist hate publications that are equavilant to La Voz de Aztlan or National Vanguard? No.

Another view of assimilation, this one touches a little more upon the early 20th century views of assimilation into European societies by Jews. I'm not too sure of this source, might not be as mainstream as the other, but still has a similar message.

Introduction
During the late 18th and early 19th century, �enlightened� Jews in Western and Central Europe accepted the fundamental premise of anti-Semitism that something was basically wrong with the Jews, and, only if they would change their own behavior would the world accept them. As the 19th century wore on, large numbers of Jews became immersed in assimilation. Many adopted the notion that other Jews and/or the Jewish people were not normal. Some displayed what is known as Jewish self-hatred or as Jewish anti-Semitism. In our time, these two phenomena are no longer peripheral issues. They have penetrated deeply into the Jewish people and must be understood and reckoned with as a major theme in Jewish life (Gilman, 1986; Kaufman, 1936; Lessing, 1930/2004). Both the sense of Jewish abnormality as well as Jewish self-hatred must be viewed against the background of Jewish assimilation.

Maybe not all Jews were trying to assimilate into the German culture in the 1920s-1930s?

Maybe it were the ones who openly opposed the concept of being Germans, and other European nationalities, rather than Jews that sparked a deal of resentment in the European nations?
