Is it only me that thinks that this whole thing is bullshit. Kids with this need a healthy diet, heathly lifestyle and decent dicipline at home, that is all.

I know this is harder said than done when the common loaf of bread contains chemicals that are proven to make kids violent. But the problem is still the same, This was never a problem before we started pumping chemicals and shit into everyone.

Chemicals in the brain effect people's personalitys. Who knew?

Is ADHD overblown? Could it be overcome without medication? In some cases, yes. But, what's the harm in making things easier with medication?

People believed that I had ADHD when I was younger, they also believed that I was a spiritual creature known as an "Indigo Child" sent to Earth to start a spiritual revolution.

People sure are dumb.

It's deficit. DEFICIT.

I think you and your topic are bullshit. Do they have a medication for dumbassery and poor spelling?

EDIT: No bolding, no verbosity. Pfft.

It's deficit. DEFICIT.
And discipline. With an /s/.

I think in a lot of cases, ADD and ADHD are misdiagnosed, but there are definitely cases in which the sufferer needs genuine medical help.

It exists but as Ryan said is easily misdiagnosed. Rather than psychotherapists being at fault it's more often the parents who want to be able to pin point the "problem" with their rambunctious child. Often the problem is a real lack of attention from shitty parents.

Most of these kids just need a good beating.

ADHD lets the parents off the hook far to easily.

There once was a dog in a hat... Who got paid to dance like that...

At some point I was convinced I had ADD - all the questions on the website seemed to apply to me and I entertained the idea of me as an intelligent person who wasn't fulfilling her potential - ie my grades were sort of above average but never really outstanding...  And I thought my concentration was shit.

To this day, I know my attention is shit, and that I'm rarely 'there' in the moment when someone, especially a stranger is talking to me.  But then thats okay, I observe people rather than listen to them...And I'm still doing well enough in my studies (although I am forever procastinating and not attending all my lectures and sleeping in... Its okay...I'm not stimulated enough by university life, its repetitive...

And the worst thing is, some people pay thousands of pounds just to attend some cutting-edge course that promises to cure your child's or your ADD/ADHD, and the sessions involve balacing on one leg while tossing a bean bag from one hand to the other.  Lol.

There are always going to be two elements to a cause for something psychiatric like this - nature and nuture.

A good diet, a stable family life, and a solid upbringing lessen the chance/severity of ADD. But some people will get it anyway and it's not their fault. I know several, genuinely lovely familes with ADD children who care for them exceptionally well - shit happens.

I have ADHD, my medicine definitely helps me. I notice it, my teachers notice it, and my parents notice it. I agree that ADHD/ADD is often misdiagnosed, but it is not just a figment of the doc's/parent's imaginations.

But my point is more the fact that with a good lifesytle and a healthy diet this would not be a problem. mabye there is something to all this Organic stuff after all

Healthy diet and excercise don't cure the insane.  Whos sais they cure everything else?  You are not a professional, so close your noise tube.

I have a healthier diet than 90% of the population. I get my 9 servings a day and drink about 4 glasses of milk a day. I don't drink, smoke, or do drugs. I'm active outside, I listen to classical music, and I'm not depressed. The only thing I don't get enough of is sleep, I get like 5 hours a day.
