I hate norton!  Unless you paid for it (I'm sorry)  I'd uninstall it and install AVG.  Have you tried uninstalling it, restarting, and reinstalling it?

lol that dosent give us much to go on.

It dosent take alot to make Norton die. Its possible to have a virus which will disable the antivirus service.
