I used to cut, burn, bruise, and smack my head off walls but a few months ago I spent time in a psych ward. I was put on a bunch of medications and I haven't cut in one month. I can deal with most of the emotions I go through now but some of them still give me problems. IN the past two weeks I've started forcing myself to throw up. I don't want to start going down the road of having an eating disorder but it seems that I always need some kind of pain. What is wrong with me?

Find another thing to take your attention.

I play sports/exercise.  This morning I ran 3.5 miles to this place I was going to instead of waiting around the house and then getting a ride later.  I played basketball earlier.  Exercise seriously makes everything in your life a  little bit better.

I agree, work out instead of causing yourself pain, run..running can give you the same rush as pain. You can do this, and kick all bad habits with a little willpower and a plan. Seriously work out, and you will not only kick the habits but feel better about yourself and feel better too.

sometimes self hatred becomes so much that you want to hurt yourself because it seems like the only way out. I know this as i have felt this way before. Cutting numbs your emotions and so does making yourself sick- but it doesn't help your situation thats for sure- at least that's what i have learned. I don't think what you are describing is going down the roads of an eating disorder but you are surely not doing yourself any favours. I'm sure that the last thing you want is to end up going back into a psychiatric ward because I know how frustrating and upsetting it is to be locked up in one of those places. So, try and replace this self hating habits into something more productive. Sometimes i find going for a walk or getting some fresh air does the trick as it helps you think of other things. I hope this helps.
