I know the feeling, I really do. But he can't get help, or have people get close to him, until he's ready for that. Clearly, he was not. I also think that maybe, before he lets people get so close to him, he's got a few personal things he has to work through on his own. Then, maybe, he'll feel comfortable enough to have people get so close to him. You DID get somewhere with him though, I'm absolutely sure of it. You've made an impact on him, and how he sees himself. That's a really big thing for you to have done. Really positive on his behalf too, I'm sure.

You played your own part though really. I just pushed and pushed at him. But the wall broke, and I could view how he saw things.

Ah, I hate it when I get involved. Makes me feel bad when what I tell them doesn't work, or makes things worse. I once was talking to someone who was suicidal, and their Internet connection died for 5 minutes. My heart dropped during those 5 minutes.

You can't win them all, unfortunately. They don't know what to do, yet when someone helps, they are scared of the change, and hide from it. It's disappointing, I must agree, to know that after everything, it doesn't help. I've dealt with it, she was in need of help, I offered it any way I could, but even after me helping, she kept saying 'Nothing you say is going to help'
